Fleece Blankets: Give or Receive Their Many Gifts

Fleece blankets. Who doesn't love a fleece blanket? Even sheep love fleece blankets, because fleece blankets are commonly made with insulating polyester blends unless it is specified to be fleece-wool. Every time a fleece blanket is manufactured, one more sheep is able to graze undisturbed in the meadows for a few seconds more.

Fleece blankets are light, but serve as an effective and low-cost protection from the cold. You can find a fleece blanket anywhere-- I almost bought one at a Kroger's grocery store at 4 a.m. just because it took me by surprise…and they were only six dollars!

Fleece blankets really grow in appeal during these cold winter months. One fleece blanket can soothe a shivering child in a drafty house, or help protect a man without a home as he deals with the elements longer than the average man might have to. Fleece blankets also provide a sense of comfort for those ill, or even lonely- an elementary school in New Jersey even goes as far as to call their donated blankets "hugs."

If you are in need of a few fleece hugs, or would like to make sure that no one is in need of any, your local Salvation Army or your favorite charity will be happy to supply you with some or accept your donations of fleece blankets. The appropriately named Project Linus non-profit organization has local chapters throughout the country dedicated to, "Provide love…warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans."

There are folks willing to help--receive your comfort today, or share it with someone in need. 'Tis always the season.
