WordPress Blog as an OpenID

    March 7, 2007

OpenID ? WordPress.com Wow this is really smart. You can now use your WordPress blog as an OpenID.

From Simon:

"Are you fed up with having to remember dozens of usernames and password? Does the idea of creating yet another account on yet another site leave you cold?

OpenID is a new standard that hopes to alleviate some of the pain, and we’ve just made it available to everyone who has a WordPress.com blog. This means you can sign in to a growing number of sites using your existing WordPress.com account."

One of the biggest problems that people have mentioned with OpenID is that they can’t remember the url that they set up. It’s difficult for some people to think of identity in terms of a url. Of course if you are a blogger and can remember your WordPress blog this is a pretty good way to go.

At Zooomr we support OpenID of course but you can also use your OpenID with many other sites — a list that continues to grow daily.

Also if you happen to be a blogger, don’t forget about our free Pro Account for Bloggers offer on Zooomr. We are going to begin offering paid Pro accounts with our next (very soon) release Mark III, but appreciate the work that bloggers are doing getting the word out about Zooomr and it’s a great way to say thanks back.

Here is the WordPress OpenID FAQ.
