Dell’s CEO announces the addition of 2,000 jobs to its Indian operations in Bangalore, while several US states see unemployment rise above the national average.

Dell’s president and CEO Kevin Rollins divulged plans to increase its presence in Bangalore from 8,000 to 10,000 people by years’ end.

“The talent base and capability here is second to none,” said Mr. Rollins. Engineers in India work for wages that are roughly a seventh of those paid to US engineers.

Dell updated its revenue targets over the next four years from $60 billion USD to $80 billion.

“We are a global company and we seek the best talent in every region. India has been a wonderful source of that. We will move into more cities in the future,” said Mr. Rollins.
