Blogging From CFUnited
So I’m at the CFUnited ColdFusion conference in Washington D.C. I got in yesterday and hooked up with the boys from CFDynamics. It’s always funny to finally meet people in person for the first time after working with them online for a number of years.
I had a mental picture of Jason Egan being a scronny guy like me because he’s always so soft-spoken. But then I met him and realized he’s an ox. I mean he’s a pretty big dude, my mental picture was so wrong. I also finally met Rob Thrasher and Pete Freitag from ActivSoftware for the first time in person last night. Pete could pass as my brother. He looks like every one of my brothers and is just as quiet in person as he is online and on the phone.
Couple Conference Updates
Heard the Macromedia keynote this morning where they announced they have an active relationship with the CFEclipse folks which is quite timely for me. Because now I’m using a mac for my laptop [that’s right, I said a mac and it rocks!] instead of the piece of crap Dell I had before and you can’t get Homesite for the Mac. The only decent code editor is eclipse and now Macromedia is backing the project and should be making it more friendly with features like RDS. They didn’t admit they’re going to put RDS in it but Ben Forta did admit that it’s the number 1 request from current CFEclipse users and I think we can all do that math.
I was a little peeved when I came downstairs this am because there weren’t any complimentary sodas to be had. There is coffee but I just wasn’t in the mood for java this am, ColdFusion was really pushing it. [joke for cf developers, most of you won’t get it so don’t try]
After the keynote [seemed like it went on for hours] I went to the expo hall and hooked up with the CFDynamics folks again and after 20 minutes of trying I finally got online. So here I am.
I’ll have more updates and information a bit later.
