It’s hard to think of a more striking way in which "old school" could meet new.  Donald E. Graham, chairman of the board and CEO of The Washington Post Company, will join Facebook’s board of directors next month.

Graham has worked for The Washington Post Company in one capacity or another since 1971.  His father spent much of his life under the same corporate roof, and his grandfather actually bought The Washington Post during a 1933 bankruptcy sale.

Donald GrahamThis background makes it all the more interesting that Graham said in a statement, "Facebook has completely transformed how people interact by providing a compelling forum where millions and millions of people can connect and share."  Is his comment a little validation of Mark Zuckerberg’s 100 years claim, perhaps?

And in specific reference to Facebook’s 24-year-old cofounder and CEO, Graham then continued, "Mark’s sense of what Facebook can do is quite remarkable."

All of this should lend Facebook a great deal of additional credibility.  Given that Zuckerberg praised Graham’s ability to plan for the long term, the social network might be receiving a few revenue-related tips thanks to the move, as well.  Let Facebook fans rejoice.
