Overture, which is owned by Yahoo, recently acquired a trademark for Site Match, computer software designed to track and analyze the performance of online advertising. According to the trademark, the software will also be used to “search, retrieve, index and organize” Internet data.

Yahoo representative Tim Mayer declined to comment when questioned about Site Match at the WebmasterWorld Publishers Conference earlier today.

Apparently, Yahoo had been planning on officially announcing the program at next week’s Search Engine Strategies Conference but whispers have already been leaked into the public.

The official trademark information on Site Match (here) reveals quite a bit of information regarding the concept and the time frame in which Yahoo! is working.
