Local News, Google Maps Mashed Up

    April 14, 2006

Riddle me this. What do you get when you combine Google News RSS feeds, your zip code and Google Maps?

You got it. One killer mashup that provides local news based on your zip code. Think this is important? Uh huh. There are lots of smart people, like those at Topix.net and Yahoo, who are also in the local news aggregation game. However, now anyone thanks to APIs and mashups can make a competitive site rather easily and that’s a big change for the Web. The question is, can they scale. (via Google Maps Mania)
