How To Get Around The No-Call List

Under federal law, each state must now maintain a “no-call list.” The no-call list is a list of consumers who do not wish to receive unsolicited telephone solicitations. The fines for calling consumers who are on these lists are upwards of $1,000 per occurrence. I don’t think any of us want to pay these fines.

How do you get the no-call list? Just contact your state’s Attorney General’s office. There is a small charge. Usually you are required to obtain a new one each quarter. Once you get it, you will need to check every phone number you plan on calling against this list. The point is, for us small network marketers, this is an awful lot of trouble.

Here is an easy way around this law: Use the yellow pages instead of the white pages!

The law applies to consumers, not businesses! You are free to call business phone numbers to your heart’s content. You might think “I don’t want to market to businesses. I want to market to consumers!” Think about it a second. Isn’t everyone a consumer. Doesn’t the receptionist who answers the phone at the business have a home too? The receptionist is usually the lowest paid in the office too. She needs the additional income provided by your opportunity. As an additional bonus, you already know he or she has good phone skills.

In most metropolitan areas, the yellow pages is so thick you will never get through them. Here in Atlanta, they are almost a foot thick. So, grab the yellow pages, dial some numbers, and give your pitch to the person who answers the phone. You might be surprised at your results.
