The president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez wants to make a long term oil-supply deal with India.

“We want to supply petroleum in a permanent way, the same as we do with the US,” said Chavez.

Chavez threatened to stop supplying oil to the U.S. after accusing Washington of plotting to have him assassinated.

“If there is any aggression, there will be no oil,” he said. “We want to supply oil to the US. We’re not going to avoid this supply of oil unless the US government gets a little bit crazy and tries to hurt us.”

According to a News24.com article,

“The US state department has dismissed Chavez’s accusations that Washington is seeking to have him killed as “ridiculous and untrue”.

Venezuela is the world’s fifth-biggest oil exporter and is among the largest suppliers to the United States.”
