    October 25, 2005

London based published new numbers suggesting portal powerhouse Yahoo is gaining ground in the perceived value of search engine rankings in specific search engine.

The study was built around client requirements for top search engine ranking positions. While Google still held the vast majority in terms of required search engine ranking achievement, the Yahoo search engine now accounts for 35% of client requirements for top search engine ranking positions. MSN and Ask didn’t fair nearly so well.

They say this shows Yahoo’s increasing popularity as a search engine and the perception is Yahoo has a more recognizable value in terms of marketing visibility.

ServiceWrap also suggested the U.K. lagged behind its U.S. competitors by clinging to the belief that Google alone was the only search engine worth pursuing in both the short and long term.

They said their research showed U.S. based SEO client behavior was found to be breaking the “Google popularity trend” and not believe there’s only one search engine to rely on.

The study also showed 75% of U.S. based SEO client behavior said Yahoo should be a major factor in search engine ranking campaigns while only 25% of U.K. believed it.
