Gmail Users Experience Another Hiccup

Some Gmail users have been experiencing yet another instance of the service being down. This seems to be happening quite a bit lately, and at a particularly odd and unfortunate time for Google, as the company has recently increased its efforts to push Google Apps on Businesses.

Right now, when I log into Gmail I get the following message:

Gmail unable to access contacts

Google also acknowledges that Gmail is having issues on the Google Apps Status Dashboard:

Google’s message on the subject (updated around 10:30am) says:

We’re aware of a problem with Google Mail affecting a small subset of users. The affected users are unable to access Google Mail, but we’ve provided a workaround below. We will provide an update by September 24, 2009 11:29:00 AM UTC-4 detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change.

You can access Gmail via IMAP

Google has just tweeted about the issue, saying it should be corrected for most people, though I am currently still seeing the message above my inbox.
