California Woman Cuts Off Husband’s Penis, Throws It In Garbage Disposal

I know that I am a man, so this story is particularly unsettling to me. But seriously, gaaaaaaahhh.

A Southern California women was arrested and charged with aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon and more after she cut off her husband’s penis and threw it in the garbage disposal – which she then turned on.

Until now I’d never heard of “aggravated mayhem,” but if any act suits that charge it is probably chopping off someone’s penis.

According to the initial police reports Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, laced her husband’s food with some sort of poison or sedative. When he passed out, she tied him to the bed. It wasn’t until he awoke that she cut off his penis.

“The victim went to lie down and he woke up tied to the bed with his wife tugging his clothes off,” police said. “The suspect grabbed the victim’s penis and cut it off.”

She then called for medical attention for her husband and when police arrived on the scene she told them that “he deserved it.”

Timeout, people. There should be no congratulations to the psycho who did this. And no, it’s highly implausible that he “deserved it.” Only a couple extremely heinous actions could even put the “deserved it” phrase on the table. And even then, yeesh.

I know that this is just a silly dick-related story, but does some of that congratulatory and victim-blaming reaction say something about gender in our society? Of course, more domestic violence is perpetrated by men than women, but does that mean that something as horrific as this should receive an “atta girl?”

You would probably not see a lot of “she probably deserved it” comments if the tables were turned. TMZ’s Harvey Levin seems to share this opinion –

far more heinous crimes have been perpetrated against women by their husbands. A man can kill his wife and get out of prison in a few years, a woman protects herself from her husband attacker and serves life in prison……so for women who have been victims of these crimes or seen the aftermath of these crimes on their friends, our reactions, are that “he must have deserved it”…..I think it stands as a warning to men to be on better behavior. She was willing to face the consequences, she called the police herself…..

If a guy is being a jerk that’s one thing, but what kind of action on a guy’s part, besides beating up a girl and leaving her for dead or raping a girl could a female think was justification to cut off a guy’s penis?

To maime someone for life is not funny in the least. What could the man POSSIBLY have done to “deserve” this – cheat on her? So what’s next…if a woman cheats on her husband, he has the right to cut something off?

People are becoming more base and vulgar as time goes, especially some of the people who left their “atta girls.”

Who really knows what happened, but whatever happened, the punishment did not fit the crime, I’m sure.
