Bing is Taking Feature Requests

Sets Up Facebook Discussion for User Feedback

Microsoft wants you to like Bing. If the company ever hopes to lure a significant enough amount of people away from Google, it has to deliver on user experience. For the most part the public’s response to Bing in this area has so far been relatively positive.

Bing has set up a discussion page on Facebook where fans can request features they would like to see added to Bing. Here is a sampling of some of the requests made so far:

Bing Requests

Microsoft is taking the right approach by reaching out to users. Facebook is a great way to do this, as the social network continues to gain popularity (it’s even close to Google in unique visitors according to Compete).

Bing is doing its own fair share of growing too of course. If it hopes to keep doing so for a long time, it is wise to continue paying attention to what users want.

Of course there is a big difference between asking for requests and acting upon them. Obviously, they’re not going to fulfill each one, but Microsoft is clearly taking search seriously now (they’ve got a lot of money invested in the marketing alone), and keeping the users happy is a good way to expand on market share.

What would you like to see added to Bing? We’d love to know too. Comment.

  1. This is a good step in the right direction for Bing. If they follow this up and actually believe on what people request then I’m sure they could be a contender against Google.

  2. I love that they’re willing to listen to their users! So refreshing these days!

When signed into my gmail account, Bing is way faster for me than google, so I like them already! :D

  3. Bing is indeed taking the right approach by asking users what they want. After all, they are serving the users and the “better” the merrier. One thing that I do believe is that Microsoft is taking each step at a time and further “surprises” might come along. I would really like to know what they are up to against Chrome OS. Maybe an IE W7 with Bing integration?

Since Bing was rolled out, I published a number of posts about Bing on our blog site. Looking at the analytics each day, there are always significant hits from Redmond on the days I posted about Bing. This is just another example of how Microsofty is making a concerted effort across many fronts to listen to what people are saying.

Microsoft is is doing many things right. They are taking Office to the web in 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8148969.stm and it will be free. Google is in BIG TROUBLE. Billy is pissed. He’s got enough of lunch taking by a couple of kids ’cause he wears glasses. LOL!

I think Google will be another Infoseek in about 3 years time. Expect less Adsense accounts canceled and cheaper Adwords.
