Apple vs. Apple Takes Weird BBC Bounce

    May 18, 2006

On Monday, the BBC managed to interview the wrong person, live on air, over the settlement of the Apple Records vs. Apple Computer trademark suit.

Guy Goma is a graduate student from Congo who was at the BBC applying for a job. While he was waiting in a reception room, a producer for BBC News24 entered asking for Guy Kewney, editor of, who was waiting in another reception room.

Goma, hearing his name, jumped up. When asked again if he was Guy, he said yes and, moments later, was facing the cameras, being interviewed live on TV.

Sometime towards the end of the interview, which is accessible on the BBC website , the host clues in to the fact that Goma is most certainly not an expert on downloadable music or the Apple vs. Apple spat.

Long live live TV.
