Adobe and Verizon shook hands on a deal that will incorporate Adobe’s recently won Flash technology into Verizon mobile phones.

Verizon and Adobe didn’t allude to launch dates or financial arrangements, but Verizon says it expects to become the first wireless operator in North America to introduce Flash enabled handsets.

The companies say they will create a “mobile ecosystem” in which Flash developers can create interactive mobile content for Verizon customers.

Vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, John Stratton said that an exciting and simple to use mobile experience would accelerate customer adoption of new data services offered by the company.

The companies hope the combination will broaden the opportunities of mobile developers and content providers by offering an avenue where designers and developers can utilize Adobe and Macromedia to create engaging mobile phone experiences.

“This relationship marks an important point in the evolution of the wireless experience and provides an unique on-ramp for the millions of web designers who have been waiting to bring their creative ideas to our connected mobile world,” said Al Ramadan, senior vice president, Mobile and Device Solutions Business Unit at Adobe.

Developers interested in participating in the program can visit Verizon‘s or Adobe‘s website for more information.
