Just in time for Black Friday 2014, Target has updated its mobile app to include in-store maps.

In October, Target, previously named the 2013 Mobile Retailer of the Year, announced that they would be doing a complete revamp to their app to include gift registry, pharmacy, and more.

“We view mobile as the new front door to Target,” said Jason Goldberger, senior vice president of and Mobile. “We’re launching a host of significant enhancements and updates to Target’s mobile offerings – making it easier than ever for guests to shop Target.”

Now with Point Inside technology, the American retailing company is debuting in-store maps which show where items in the store are located as a pin on the map (similar to navigation apps). This will especially help customers during the Black Friday sales, revealing deals and doorbuster items.

Other popular features on the mobile app include shopping lists with a scanning feature and trending Target items on Pinterest. The Target app now also supports checkout via Apple Pay.

But the new update isn't just for consumers. It also helps Target with customer insights and "path to purchase" which helps the retailer improve floor plans, merchandising, and store planning.

Perhaps it's no accident that this update comes after the massive hack which occurred during the 2013 season and exposed 40 million credit card numbers, 70 million addresses, phone numbers, and other customer information. Earlier this year a report said that Target knew that its system had been compromised for two weeks before they did anything about it. The CIO of Target, Beth Jacob, who bore most of the blame for the hacking incident, resigned in March.

If you live in the San Francisco Bay area, Target is also offering Curbside, a pickup service at ten local stores. All you have to do is place an order for store pickup through the Curbside app and collect the purchase in person at the convenient Curbside trailer or tent near the store entrance.

Looking for an HDTV? Target is also offering one of the best deals around this holiday season.

Happy shopping!
