Report: Facebook Has Over 225 Million Users

Other Report: Facebook Turns Down $8 Billion Valuation

All Facebook claims to have data showing that Facebook has surpassed 225 million users. More accurately, they say Facebook should’ve surpassed this number a couple weeks ago.

While we’re looking at Facebook user numbers, we might as well pull out a couple of Compete graphs. Compete shows that Facebook saw over 104 million unique visitors in April and over 1.6 billion visits.

It should be noted that actual numbers are sometimes much higher than Compete’s numbers as well. I have a hunch that that is the case here.

Users are one thing, but what about value? Mike Arrington claims that the company actually turned down an$8 billion valuation. This was evidently more because of a board of directors seat than the actual valuation though.

On a semi-related note, a report yesterday showed that revenue generated by Facebook apps is nearly equal to what Facebook itself pulls in. Doug talks about this and fbFund Finalists.

  1. I joined Facebook about 4-5 months ago and it seemed like everyone was joining. I find that it’s slowed down a bit. I think people can be divided into 2 groups now–those that post on an almost daily basis, and those that just watch. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Facebook over the next year or so.
