It’s…Another Yahoo Index Update
The Sixth Weather Report from Yahoo Search should be completed sometime today, and site publishers will want to look and see where they may be placed.
Yahoo Search’s Tim Mayer posted the latest news, this time announcing the Sixth Weather Report for the search engine index.
Mayer wrote that users “should see some changes in ranking as well as some shuffling of the pages that are included in the index.” Feedback provided to Yahoo about query terms that give good or bad results, or domains that could be over- or under-indexed, should be specific.
Yahoo began issuing its weather reports in response to a request from search expert Danny Sullivan at SES San Jose in August 2004. Mayer disclosed Yahoo would begin doing so, and the first alert was issued on March 31, 2005.
“It is important to have a dialog with publishers who rely on our product to send them visitors and that these content providers provide us with valuable feedback on our search products,” Mayer wrote in March.
