Fleetwood Mac fans may be in for a treat.

The audience during their recent shows at the O2 in London was thrilled when Christine McVie joined her old band, Fleetwood Mac, onstage to join then in singing, Don’t Stop, and it seems it stirred something in her as well.

When originally asked to return to the band, she said she didn’t want to fly to the US. Since her departure from Fleetwood Mac, she had remained out of the spotlight in her home in Kent, England.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, McVie said she would like to return to the band after all.

“I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them,” said McVie. “I miss them all. If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted … but it hasn’t happened so we’ll have to wait and see.”

As the band’s main songwriter, she wrote such hits as Don’t Stop, Songbird and Say You Love Me, among others, and was with the band for 28 years until her departure in 1998.

Born Christine Perfect, she joined the group in 1971 with her husband at the time, John McVie.

In 1975, Stevie Nicks and boyfriend, Lindsey Buckingham, joined the band, and the band went from a bluesy British band to a pop mega-phenomenon.

The band was also known for the romantic tensions which inspired the album Rumours, selling 19 million copies in the US. The McVies divorced in 1976 and Nicks and Buckingham split up shortly afterwards.

Fleetwood Mac is currently on a world tour, but had to cancel some tour dates , while John McVie is treated for cancer.

McVie told the Guardian her ex-husband’s condition was “really good”.

“He’s having his treatment in LA right now, but they caught it really early so he should be up and running in a couple of months.”
