Chinese officials have closed two popular blog sites used by its citizens, citing objectionable blog content. Many of the blogs openly question China’s government policies.

Blogbus.com, one of the sites used by the Chinese bloggers, was closed on March 11. The site boasted a user number of over 15,000 Chinese citizens. A notice on Blogbus said that “Because the individual user blog content breaks a prohibition, the website server temporarily shuts down.”

Blogdriver and Chinanewsman, other blog sites used by Chinese citizens, were closed also, but have since re-opened. This is not the first time the Chinese government has censored blogs. Last year, access to Blogspot, used by more than a million Chinese people, was blocked.

Besides blocking sites and taking them down, the government of China has created a cyber police force that has jailed people for web postings that question Chinese authority.
