CBS Horrifies Net Audience With ‘Dodge The Kills’

A charming series of short videos entitled "How to Survive a Horror Movie" links CBS and author Seth Grahame-Smith’s recent book of the same name.

Just in time for Halloween, or as some uptight people have started calling it, Fall Festival, or as its known in certain circles, Samhain, comes another of Web-prolific broadcaster CBS’s online entertainment efforts. This look at horror in cinema has its tongue firmly planted in cheek.

At Dodge The Kills, CBS and Grahame-Smith present cheeky ways to avoid being done in by a masked maniac on the big screen. As with other CBS efforts, this one is free to viewers and supported by pre-roll advertising from Sprint, as well as an HP-Gwen Stefani promotion.

"It took a team of robotic engineers months to perfect “Lil’ Coochie,” our star – but it only took a few seconds and pint of kerosene to destroy her," Grahame-Smith said of the pint-size plastic pest featured in the video, ‘How To Defeat A Killer Doll.’

CBS said new releases have been scheduled through October:

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays now through October 25, two new episodes of HOW TO SURVIVE A HORROR MOVIE will stream online (a total of 6 episodes per week for three weeks…"666"). The webisodes follow a framework reminiscent of 1950’s training films, with a shooting style similar to modern horror films. The interactive website will also feature director’s video commentary, a director’s blog and behind-the-scenes photos.

CBS has been aggressively pushing what they can accomplish on the Internet, both with the entertainment side of the business as well as with current event coverage on the CBS News website. Recently CBS picked up Wallstrip, a Wall Street news show produced and broadcast online, to complement its existing properties.
