Teen's Voice Leads To YouTube Popularity

Over 4 million views

A seventeen-year-old Minneapolis high school student has helped propel the popularity of a video on YouTube called "Where the Hell is Matt" by being heard singing in the clip.

The video features Matt Harding, the clips creator, dancing in more than 40 different countries around the world.

Palbasha Siddique's angelic voice can be heard in the video that has been viewed over 4 million times on YouTube. The song heard in the video is titled "Praan" (Bengali for "life") and has reached the top 10 of Amazon's soundtrack downloads in the past week and is also in the top 100 of all its MP3 downloads.

The song has surpassed major artists such as Madonna and Mariah Carey.

Siddique was first contacted by the makers of the video a month ago. She was spotted in an earlier video posted on YouTube after she sang for a Minneapolis radio station. They flew her and her mother to Los Angeles in mid-June for a single day of recording.

Siddique was paid a flat fee of $1,000 to sing for the clip and will not receive any royalties from the Amazon sales.

"I'm not sad about that, because there is no other way I could have gotten this much exposure," Siddique told the StarTribune.
