Google seems to be having a hard time holding onto its overseas execs.  A little less than two weeks ago, Kai-Fu Lee, the president of Google China, announced his departure, and now, Jennifer Trelewicz, the (former) CTO of Google Russia, has also found another job.

Yakov Sadchikov, the president and CEO of Quintura, reported the facts on the Quintura Blog by writing, "Jennifer Trelewicz . . . has left Google to join Russia's leading online portal Mail.ru as Deputy CTO.  Jennifer was CTO of Google in Russia for two years.  Before that, she worked as Director of IBM's first R&D lab in Russia."

Trelewicz has lectured at six different universities and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, as well, and she earned degrees from both Arizona State and Carnegie Mellon.

Her move represents a significant loss for Google, then, and a major gain for Mail.ru.

Google's had quite a lot of trouble establishing a foothold in Russia, dating back to the days when another company actually managed to register the Gmail.ru trademark.  Mail.ru, on the other hand, is (or at least before the recession, was) healthy enough to consider an IPO.

Google hasn't named a replacement for Trelewicz yet.  A hat tip goes to Philipp Lenssen.
