I look forward to this gadgets immersion, it has the hallmarks of gadget that could actually make a difference (as it is different). Good Luck! Fleur
Today, Google has launched a new event gadget for Google Friend Connect. The gadget gives webmasters the ability to spread the word about events of interest. Google Calendar Software Engineer Yoah Bar-David explains how the gadget works:
Members of your site can sign in and RSVP, and their responses will appear directly on the website. Visitors can see if any of their friends will be joining, and can add the event to their personal Google Calendars with just a click. To ensure that no one gets lost on the way, a Google Map showing the event's location is automatically embedded. Of course, that doesn't mean you should limit yourself to physical events -- host a virtual meet-up or "webinar" and share all of the important dial in codes through the event gadget.
Bar-David links to a sample site Google has set up demonstrating the gadget. You can log in and interact with it to see how it works. Click the screenshot below.

A step-by-step guide to setting up this gadget on your site is also provided in the clip below.
This is another nice feature Google has added to the social network that is Google itself. People are starting to catch on that Google is building its own social network around itself. Another example of where this is getting more attention is the addition of vanity URLs for profile pages.

Very cool!
I'm trying it on my new template, it allows you to
create your news channel, get feeds , news and more from various places, submit your comments using GFC and now create your event as well.
