Making Millions with LinkedIn

One Guy's Story

LinkedIn has posted a "success story" about a guy that has used the social network to help him make millions of dollars. It's probably safe to say that LinkedIn isn't solely responsible for this man's success, but he had no problem providing a testimonial about how it played a part.

LinkedIn has plenty of critics, which is evident as I have posted articles about how many professionals see it as their preferred network for business networking. People are often quick to point out the problems they have with it.

Nevertheless, Jeff Rogavin of Buddy Media, the successful man in question has provided the following tip (and a few sub-tips):

Come recommended and reach out to the right person at the right company:

- Update your professional summary and request recommendations from your LinkedIn contacts who know what you do best

- Search for the right person to connect with by job title, company, location or keyword

- Review profiles to see if they’re a fit for your proposal and request an introduction through a common connection, or send an InMail directly to that person

LinkedIn has done a number of things to enhance the user experience lately, such as integrating address books with profiles, and introducing a bunch of new search features. Doug also recently talked about some tips for building a profile.
