Only a third of people who watch online videos have checked out a political video, not because of lack of availability, but for lack of interest.
A third translates to quite a large number, though, according to Harris Interactive, or about 62 million people.
Overall, only 11 percent watched a political advertisement, and only 10 percent checked out a campaign video. That's not because there aren't enough of them, only that they've likely had enough from TV. Forty-one percent said they would not watch any more campaign ads if they were available, and only four percent would watch a lot more.
Online video viewers are more apt to watch a news story about candidates, with 27 percent responding they had done so. Just 14 percent had watched a candidate interview or political speech. A third said they would not watch more political speeches if more were available.
Democrats are more likely than Republicans or Independents to watch online a political video online. Forty percent of Democrats have, while just 35 percent of Rupublicans and 33 percent of Independents have.
What's interesting is that Democrats are more likely to watch online political videos to determine which candidate to support (59% to 46% of Republicans), while Republicans are more likely to watch the video of a candidate they know they will not support (39% to 31% of Democrats).
Perhaps that's part of keeping your enemies closer.
