Google Facebook App Off To Problematic Start

Not long after Facebook applications were introduced, I became tired of them.  Some were good, but most were bad, and it seemed like every company I’d never heard of was determined to create one.  There’s a new app that’s worth noting, however, and it was released by none other than Google.

“Google made a lovely app for Facebook that lets you search the web and share the results with your friends,” writes Ionut Alex Chitu.  “Your queries are automatically included in Facebook’s mini-feed, so your web history can be shared with your friends.  There’s also a page that showcases popular results found by other Facebook users.”

Chitu then posts a screenshot of the app, which may come in handy - my attempts to access Google’s app yielded the message “Errors while loading page from application.”

And no, neither my browser nor my computer is at fault; the error message continues, “There are still a few kinks Facebook and the makers of Google are trying to iron out.  We appreciate your patience as we try to fix these issues.  Your problem has been logged - if it persists, please come back in a few days.  Thanks!”

So it would seem that even the world’s most successful search company has trouble creating a decent Facebook application.  On the one hand, I feel as if my suspicion of these apps has been justified.  On the other, well . . . if Google can get its software working, and if enough users don’t mind sharing their search histories, we may have an extremely popular app on our hands.
