Yahoo Acquires Actionality

Yahoo has acquired Actionality, a German firm that describes itself as “an emerging leader of automated in-game advertising and marketing solutions for the mobile market.”  And that’s about all we know for sure - dollar amounts and dates have not yet been made public.

The acquisition has been acknowledged, however, which puts us one step ahead of where we were yesterday.  In fact, a Yahoo spokesperson told ClickZ, “I can confirm that we have acquired Actionality and that the acquisition is part of Yahoo’s ongoing focus on becoming #1 in mobile advertising.”

The statement, such as it is, then continued, “With the technology and team from Actionality, Yahoo will be able to deliver the most relevant and context-sensitive ads to consumers and help advertisers reach their target consumers.”

Otherwise, it looks like rumors of the takeover leaked a little before either company was ready; there’s no press release, and the Actionality site crashed sometime Tuesday afternoon, so its homepage fluff  wasn’t even available.  If any of these missing details are noteworthy, count on seeing either an update or a follow-up piece.

Credit goes to Mobile Entertainment’s Tim Green for getting ahead of the curve and breaking this story.
