Google To Go On "Ultimate Search" For Bourne

Here’s the premise of a new contest from Google: “catch” Jason Bourne using its search engine, and you may be rewarded with the opportunity to catch whoever you like using a Volkswagen Touareg 2.

Universal Pictures is also involved with the promotion, and its “Bourne” movie series has won a lot of fans.  For those who want to take it to their computer, the Hollywood Reporter’s Gail Schiller states that, “[i]n the game, inspired by all three ‘Bourne’ films, players will assume the identity of a former CIA operative as they track rogue agent Jason Bourne across three continents.”

Schiller then notes that The Ultimate Search For Bourne With Google “launches simultaneously Monday in seven countries,” and continues, “It can be played at www.google.com/bourne until the film’s opening Aug. 3 and will include exclusive clips from ‘Bourne Ultimatum.’”  On my computer, the site isn’t functioning too well at the moment, but then again, this may be an intentional hint or obstacle.

In any event, the grand prize in this contest is a Volkswagen Touareg 2 “designed to the top-of-the-line specifications of the car seen in the movie.”  A production-version Touareg 2 tops out at around $85,000, so, depending on what producers of “The Bourne Ultimatum” have done, the winner might receive something of even greater value.

Hat tip to Screenhead’s Mike Fantana.

No joke

If you right click on that official contest page and deselect the “loop” option, you should be able to see something.

Alternately, it looks like Rhiza Sanchez captured a good screenshot.
