Social networking site MySpace has gone Hollywood with their launch of MySpace Trailer Park, a video community that will feature theatrical trailers for film releases.

MySpace Trailer Park is a partnership with Lionsgate independent film studio.

"We expect millions of Americans will come to Trailer Park to check out the industry's best movie trailers," said Chris DeWolfe, CEO of MySpace.

"The demand on MySpace for premium video content is off the charts and we expect Trailer Park to speak to users who want to discover and virally share these videos."

Trailer Park will provide movie studios with an additional avenue to reach a film's fanbase before its official release. Movie trailers will appear on the site 3-6 months prior to a films release and a few months before the movie's MySpace profile launch. Users will be able to attach the content to their profiles and will able to share it with friends. Friends of the profile will be sent emails telling them that a new trailer has been added.

The launch of Trailer Park is MySpace's first venture in creating a video community focused on one type of video. If Trailer Park is a hit with users I would expect to see other video channels created that be genre specific such as a comedy or sports community.

Trailers currently available on Trailer Park include "Good Luck Chuck", "The Condemned" and "Land of Women".

Because of the number of users MySpace has Trailer Park will probably do well even though there are plenty of places online to watch trailers such as IMDb, Yahoo and Google.

"MySpace is constantly coming up with new and fresh ways to help us make positive impressions on their community."

"We're thrilled to be the first to park our trailer (for Good Luck Chuck) in the Trailer Park - because we're sure we'll get the best spot!," said Tim Palen, Lionsgate Co-President of Theatrical Marketing.
