A Trend On Google Trends?

Pottymouths game Hot Trends

Last week, Google Trends monitors were taken aback by the appearance of a swastika among the Hot Trends list. Yesterday, another graphic popped up and stayed there, an upside down and backwards message to Google itself.

Three usually makes a trend in news, but two could be enough of an indicator in this instance. Sunday's number four gainer in search queries was  ǝlƃooƃ noʎ ʞɔnɟ, an apparent Google bomb with more staying power than the aforementioned Nazi symbol.

With the swastika, Google attributed its appearance to a popular online forum posting the HTML. This appears to a similar situation with a weird kind of twist. Clicking on the query in Google Hot Trends brings back Google News and search results for it, and included in those results are articles from Wikipedia and TechCrunch (the sole news source to appear). However, going to read those entries will leave an interested reader disappointed: both are MIA on the sites themselves.

At the risk of helping to perpetuate a self-fulfilling prophecy, gaming Hot Trends to send odd or offensive queries to the top of the list could be the new Rickroll. Stay tuned for more shenanigans, which seem likely.

Swastika

I for one don't normally reminice on the past, nor do i condone the actions of any war, especially the World wars of past, but i feel that google and other search engines should not have the ability to condone this sort of hate and anger and reminding of what happened in the form of Swastika's and other hate symbols.

My parents, and indeed grandparents were in them wars, and fought hell and high water just to give us what we think we have today. Not to mention, as i'm not of the jewish comunity, i feel they have a lot more to say about this matter, in which i can not say.

It's not about the symbol itself, it's aboput the meaning, and what it represented. The hate, the slaughter, the regime behind it, and many other fancy words i cannot say due to certain laws. Some of my family gave thier lives to stop this tyrany, and i am deeply offended by the sheer lack of respect by today's younger generation, that have it all and no balls to respect anyone and openly show these images. Google should know better than to advertise this image.

Forget your so called "freedom of speech" and "human rights" bolocks, it didn't apply then, and sure as hell dont apply now.

I would ask google to identify sites that display such images to be blocked untill they have a clear warning to the contary, or remove the images altogether.

A perfect example would be http://www.modern-war-generals.com which is a war game, but they claim to be a family site, and no warnings of any graphics that could offend. They clearly display swastika and other nazi images which should be removed, even in a war game. I would close that site down untill they removed all those offending images, but that's only what i would do. If your easily offended, do not go to that site, it can be nasty, and this is not an advertisement to go there.

So i ask google, do you intend to allow such images to remind us how bad we can be, or of the tryany and hate to continue. No wonder racism is ripe in some countries....your not allowing it to die.
