"Governor Mitt Romney wants you to make his campaign’s new official TV advertisement. Yes, we’re serious," the promotional site said. The winning ad can be composed from images, video, and audio clips provided on the Jumpcut site, along with whatever content (within reason and copyright) one can fit into a 27- or 57-second spot.
Alex Castellanos, Senior Adviser and media strategist to Governor Romney, said, "This contest demonstrates Romney for President's commitment to using unique and democratizing online tools to engage voters and harness the extraordinary enthusiasm of its growing team of supporters."
'Supporters' being the operative word here. Romney's political apparatus wants ads that promote their candidate in a positive light. General Motors left up critical videos that were created in a similar contest for the Chevy Tahoe last April. We don't think a Daily Kos or Democratic Underground creation will make it to the finals of the Romney contest.
