Yes, you're right. Delicious looks different. Scrumptious, even.
With over 150 million links tucked away in its index, room for improvement existed. Yahoo announced that today, noting how the site now resides on a new platform, with the usual plaudits for increasing speed and performance.
On the search functionality side, Delicious picked up options for people to focus their queries to a friend's links, or to the broader social network they have grown over time.
"We’ve updated the user interface to improve usability and add a few often-requested features (such as selectable detail levels and alphabetical sorting of bookmarks)," Stephen Hood said on the Delicious blog.
Shifting the domain to delicious.com as the main point of presence meant returning visitors had to login again, as the change expired older cookies logged-in users had. We were surprised that the login process stuck with existing Delicious identities, as Yahoo has required users of other services like Flickr to start using a Yahoo login.
Delicious looks good and functions reliably. It's always passed the "TV test," being as easy to use as clicking a single button. Such reliability may not make people's hands go tingly in the world of Web 2.0 and other exciting technologies, but few services will endure as Delicious has without it.
