Video site Dailymotion announced a new High Definition content page, in response to all of the HD video being submitted by its users, called MotionMakers by the site.
The Dailymotion blog disclosed the new HD option for visitors. "Word to the wise, however: HD is both bandwidth and processor intensive, so a 1.6 Mbps connection is advised (and dual-cores don’t hurt," they said.
Naturally, those with the right hardware have the option of sending those HD videos to a television rather than watching them on a monitor.
Dailymotion also fully activated a video player that had been in beta testing. The player, available throughout the site, supports HD and offers other features, like improved embed and email tools for sharing videos with others.
As Mashable noted, dominant video site YouTube has yet to embrace HD. It may be the YouTube-viewing audience is not ready, or demanding, a big shift to the more resource-intensive format yet.
