Hitwise released this month’s search share numbers and they’re not the greatest for Microsoft. Of course, that’s just one metric firm in one month – we’ll see soon how the others score MSN/Live.com.
But until then, Hitwise scores Microsoft’s share dropping down to just under eight percent in August, down two percent since June.
That two percent seems to have been picked up by Yahoo, pulling in just under 23 percent in August, steadily gaining since the spring, notes Search Engine Land’s Danny Sullivan.
Ask.com picked up a little share as well, rising from 3.21 percent in July to 3.49 percent in August.
And Google, well, Google is Google, still holding onto nearly two-thirds of the Internet search market.
Hitwise says that over the past year search engines have driven double-digit increases to the Travel, Entertainment and Business and Finance sector websites.
