Google Wiki May Arrive Today

Post to Twitter Post to Facebook
The start of the Office 2.0 conference in San Francisco could be the fashionable choice for Google to unveil the product formerly known as Jotspot in its Google-icious form. Google's most ardent followers have been chattering online about the possible public opening of Jotspot, the wiki company Google picked up in October 2006. The latest rumors focus on a previously announced move to being a service on Google Apps.

Tony Ruscoe cited one of his commenters at Google Blogoscoped in noting the Jotspot service now appears in the list of Google Apps services codes:

anyone with a domain hosted with Google Apps who isn’t using custom logos will see a “Google Wiki” logo when trying to login to the service. (The login page currently returns a “Service not available” message which is normal for services that haven’t yet been activated in your Google Apps account.) A link to “beta.pages.google.com” is also shown. This address doesn’t currently resolve but it could suggest that Jotspot may have been moved to use the same underlying technology as Google Page Creator.
The Google Operating System blog likewise suggested Jotspot/Google Wiki and possibly Google Presentations at this week's Office 2.0 conference. Google announced the combination of their word processing and spreadsheet products into Google Docs & Spreadsheets.

In June, Google acquired Zenter, an Australian-based online slide presentation company. The Office 2.0 conference would be a fitting place for Google to announce it is also ready for launch.
