| Google Dips But Leads Search In June |
Google led the way, with Yahoo, Microsoft, Ask, and Time Warner/AOL following in its wake respectively. Yahoo dropped to 25.1 percent of the US search market.
Microsoft proved the big gainer in comScore's estimation, just as it did by Compete's rankings. Like Compete, comScore found MSN and Live Search sites grabbed 13.2 percent of June's search share.
ComScore attributed this boost to Club Live, Microsoft's play for prizes contest site. Participating in Club Live requires players to use Live Search. That gave Microsoft a boost of 2.9 percent of search share from May to June.
Google, Yahoo, and AOL all gave up share, collectively equaling Microsoft's gain. Only Ask.com, in fourth place, held serve at 5 percent. AOL picked up 4.2 percent through its evolving properties, which recently saw updates to its sports and video sites.
