Google has opened up the Chrome Extension Gallery (beta) to developers. This means that anyone can now upload their extensions. Google says it is making the upload flow available early so developers have time to publish their extensions ahead of Google’s full launch.

Twitter Gives Apps Access to People Search

Twitter is making it easier for third-party apps to allow users to find other people to follow. On the Twitter API Announcements Google Group, the company announced that they are adding the functionality of Twitter’s "find people" feature to a new API.

Google Programming Language on the “Go”

Update: Philipp Lenssen notes that someone has already developed a language called Go! (with an exclamation point). There is a book on it here. The author wants Google to change the name. This could get confusing for developers looking to use Go, although, it could also help sales of the Go! book. It wouldn’t make for very happy customers, however.

Facebook Blocks More Ad Networks

Back in July Facebook updated policies for third-party ads on Facebook Platform. The company disabled two entire ad networks and over 100 more apps were suspended or brought into compliance over ad-related violations. Half of those had over a million monthly active users.

Google has launched Google Analytics for Mobile Apps. The reports that are available as a result of last week’s expansion of mobile reporting features are now available for mobile apps as well.

PayPal to Take Over Mobile and Social Apps

PayPal has opened its global payments platform called PayPal X, providing new APIs, a new developer portal, and some introductory services pricing to help developers take advantage of PayPal X to build businesses.

Adobe Teams With Salesforce on New Flash Builder

Adobe and Salesforce.com have partnered to launch the Adobe Flash Builder for force.com, which Adobe says increases developer productivity for creating rich Internet applications in the cloud. The product can be used to enhance existing Salesforce CRM implementations and custom-built Force.com apps, or build new apps altogether.

Android Users Outspending iPhone Counterparts

Google has released a new Website Optimizer Experiment Management API. This means developers can utilize Website Optimizer for their own applications and experiments.

Facebook has announced the launch of the Facebook Connect Wizard and Playground. These are tools that are designed to make it easier for website owners to integrate Facebook Connect into their sites.

Facebook Translates Websites and Apps

Facebook has announced translations for Facebook Connect, which a spokesperson for the company tells WebProNews, "simplifies and streamlines the process of translating a website into any of the more than 65 different languages Facebook currently supports."

"By opening the same framework Facebook used to translate its own site, passionate communities in countries around the world can translate some of the best websites and applications into their native languages," she says.

Anyone Can Develop Apps for the Yahoo! Homepage

Today Yahoo! announced the integration of is Yahoo! Application Platform (YAP) with the new Yahoo! Homepage, which lets advertisers and publishers develop apps for the homepage. "In support of the Yahoo! Open Strategy, this integration offers a more customizable and personally relevant experience for over 118 million monthly homepage users across the U.S.," a Yahoo! spokesperson tells WebProNews.

Google Adds Heavily Requested Features to Analytics API

Google has released some new features for the Google Analytics API, including event tracking, navigational data, and increased filter length. The company says these features were prioritized based on feedback from users, with event tracking being the most requested feature.

Event tracking allows users to measure the number of user interactions with a site. You can track things like the total number of times a white paper is downloaded, the length of time it takes to load a video, the number of validation errors users get when filling out a form, etc.
