Only 300 posts for Google's main blog this year? It seemed like a lot more.
But on the official Google blog, Karen Wickre said that was the number. They announced 15 products, plus one that promised a merging of high-speed Internet and toilet technology.
Wickre said the posts that elicited the most responses in terms of comments and linkbacks covered topics like the hotly-rumored Gphone, Google's participation in the FCC wireless auction, and its OpenSocial and Knol projects.
Outside of Google sites, a quartet of outside referrers brought the blog plenty of its over 6.7 million visitors in 2007. Yahoo, Digg, Slashdot, and the pride of Lexington, Kentucky, Fark.
Wickre noted that Google has very little company in the Fortune 500 when it comes to company blogging. She said only 46 of those companies "have active public blogs produced by company employees that focus on the company and its products."
While we concur with her interest in seeing more of those companies blog, it's more likely the majority will be content to keep an eye on the blogosphere to see what is being said about them, rather than doing the talking themselves in that medium.
