Apple Event Invitations Sent, iPad 2 Basically Confirmed

Apple event invitations have been sent out for March 2nd. News of the event leaked out yesterday, but now it’s official, as reporters have started receiving their invitations.

It will take place at 10am Pacific on March 2nd in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

"Come see what 2011 will be the year of," the invitation teases, with a big picture of an iPad hiding behind a calendar page displaying a big number 2.

iPad 2 Expected to Be Unveiled at Apple Event on March 2nd

Kara Swisher at AllThingsD is reporting that Apple will unveil the iPad 2 on March 2nd at in event in San Francisco. 

Recent reports have indicated that the next iPad will be available through both AT&T and Verizon, and will be thinner, lighter, and will have at least one camera on the front, as well as more memory, and a more powerful graphics processor. 

Google Music in 2 Months?

"Google Music" is one of those legends that seems like it’s been around as long as Google itself (ok, maybe not quite that long). Rumors pop up from time to time, then they die back down a bit. Then they always come back. 

Right now, they’re in full force due to some comments made by Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha at Mobile World Congress. Guardian quotes him:

Yahoo said today it would launch a digital newsstand called LiveStand, aimed at tablets and mobile phones, in the first half of this year.

The company said LiveStand will offer content to people based on their personal interests.

Content from Yahoo will include sports, news, finance, Flickr, omg!, and its contributor network.

HP TouchPad, Veer and Pre3 Smartphones with webOS Introduced

Hewlett-Packard (HP) today announced the TouchPad, described as a version of webOS for the big screen. It’s essentially an iPad competitor, and is due out this summer. 

"Today we’re embarking on a new era of webOS with the goal of linking a wide family of HP products through the best mobile experience available," said Jon Rubinstein, SVP and GM of HP’s Palm Global Business Unit. "The flexibility of the webOS platform makes it ideal for creating a range of innovative devices that work together to keep you better connected to your world."
