Bit.ly Teams Up with Yfrog on Image Sharing

Bit.ly Gaining Popularity Around Web

Update: The YFrog and bit.ly partnership is now live. A YFrog spokesperson says that with Apple announcement that iPod nanos will now come equipped with video cameras – this opens a new, inexpensive way for people to capture video and then post it to Twitter.

Original Article: Bit.ly is the leading link shortening service, being the default one on Twitter's website. This week on bit.ly's blog, they pointed out some recent integrations from around the web, where their API is in use.

Google Reader is using bit.ly in their new "send-to" feature, which lets users share posts on Twitter with bit.ly URLs. Typepad added a feature that generates bit.ly links on Twitter for new blog posts, CBS started using "cbs.bit.ly" for news and video content, and a Mozilla developer created a "retweet" button using bit.ly.

YFrog, a service, which is growing in popularity, and lets users share images and video on Twitter, is going to be the next one to join forces with bit.ly to "streamline link and media sharing" on social media sites, as a spokesperson for YFrog puts it.

Within the next few weeks, bit.ly will roll out a media upload feature, powered by YFrog/Imageshack, that let's users easily upload and share photos from the bit.ly homepage. Bit.ly link will also be available for all yfrog images, and yfrog will offer bit.ly shortened links from yfrog.com.

Yfrog's spokesperson says to look for the feature in late August/Early September. Late August is running out, so it should be coming very soon.
