Suppose you're going to start a diet on Sunday.  That means a fill-the-trunk trip to the bakery is in order on Saturday, right?  So Yahoo seems to think, as word has come that it paid about $15 million for a space in La Vista, Nebraska.

To be fair, everyone has known for about a month that Yahoo wanted to establish a data center in Nebraska, and talks were in an advanced state even then.  Still, this move, as well as the opening of a research center in France, comes right as Bain & Co. starts an efficiency audit.  Yahoo seems to be shoving cake in its mouth with one hand while signing a personal trainer's check with the other.

Ah, well.  In any event, the Omaha World-Herald reports, "Internet search company Yahoo Inc. has purchased the Tender Heart Treasures building in La Vista for nearly $14.8 million."  It doesn't need the room immediately, since "home decor and giftware distributor Tender Heart Treasures will stay in the building until at least January," but the type of tax incentives for which Yahoo filed mean the company should get around to investing another $100 million in the project.

Yahoo will also need to create 50 well-paying jobs, and because the building contains 300,000 square feet of space, a few more may be in order.  (Dividing one of those numbers by the other shows that each La Vista worker would wind up with 6,000 square feet to roam.)

It wouldn't be too shocking if Google, Microsoft, and maybe even Bain employees are making piggy noises right now.
