MySpace, MTV To Host Presidential Dialogues

MySpace and MTV are following in the footsteps of CNN and YouTube with their own partnership into presidential politics.

MySpace and MTV have announced a series of solo dialogues with the major presidential candidates in an effort to appeal to the youth vote. The events will take place on college campuses, air on MTV, mtvU, and be Web cast live on both MTV.com and MySpaceTV. The first presidential dialogue will be with former Senator John Edwards in New Hampshire on Thursday, September 27.

People will be able to participate in the discussions by submitting questions through MySpaceIM, mobile devices and email while watching the live Web cast on MTV.com or MySpace. Each event will be an hour in length.

"These Presidential dialogues will bring individual candidates directly to voters - one at a time," said Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of MySpace. "We are lowering the barriers to entry, setting a high-water mark for direct engagement between Presidential candidates and average Americans."

Presidential candidates scheduled to perform, I mean participate, include Democrats Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Christopher Dodd and Bill Richardson. Republicans include Rudy Giuliani, Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, John McCain, and Sam Brownback.

"For years, young people have trusted MTV to inform and engage them on the issues that matter most, from politics to sexual health to the environment," said Christina Norman, President, MTV.

Bring on the MySpace & Music Videos!

I say bring on the MySpace and music videos. I'm curious how all 11 of these will go down and how much time each candidate will get. Mostly what I'm curious about is who they will get to host...I say bring back Adam Curry to host!!! I also think Kanye and Diddy should get involved too...because they don't have enough of the limelight at the moment...

Myspace, MTV to Host Presidentail Dialogues

I just read about this on GlobalGrind.com and think its really great. I've been googling this to get all the dates so I can watch too, but I think its good that Myspace and MTV are using their influence to get more youths to vote next year. I can't wait to see what the turn out is.
