Apple has built an application that will wirelessly stream YouTube's content on the iPhone over Wi-Fi or EDGE networks. Apple's latest move will help to attract buyers of the iPhone and provide YouTube with a mobile audience.
YouTube has begun encoding their videos in H.264 format to offer better video quality and longer battery life on the iPhone. YouTube says that more than 10,000 videos will be available on the iPhone for the June 29 launch. They plan to add their full catalog by this fall.
Apple also announced that YouTube is now available on Apple TV. Users can download the software update using Apple TV's software update feature and navigate through YouTube's video browsing categories. YouTube members can also log into their YouTube accounts on Apple TV to watch videos.
"iPhone delivers the best YouTube mobile experience by far," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Now users can enjoy YouTube wherever they are-on their iPhone, on their Mac or on a widescreen TV in their living room with Apple TV."
