Last week, Vevo launched its mobile app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Today, the company announced that the app has already been downloaded over a million times.

Music video site Vevo has launched a free app for iPhone and iPod touch users.

The Vevo App offers access to 20,000 videos from more than 7,000 artists. Users have the ability to create and save custom playlists for on demand playback, view what videos are being watched in their area using location services/GPS and share videos with friends via Twitter, Facebook and email.

 

YouTube And Yahoo Top Video Sites In June

More than 177 million U.S. Internet users watched video content in June, according to the latest report from comScore.

Google sites, driven by video viewing on YouTube, ranked as the top video content property with 144.5 million unique viewers, followed by Yahoo sites (44.9 million viewers) and Vevo (43.7 million viewers).

During the month of May 183 million U.S. Internet users watched online video, according to the latest figures from comScore.

YouTube saw record levels of viewing activity during the month with an all-time high of 14.6 billion videos viewed and surpassing 100 videos per viewer for the first time.

U.S. Internet users watched nearly 34 billion videos in May, with Google sites leading the way with 14.6 billion videos, representing 43.1 percent of all videos viewed online. YouTube account for the majority of videos viewed at the property.

Vevo Launches Grammy Channel

Recently launched online music video site Vevo has partnered with The Recording Academy and CBS to launch "The Grammys" channel.

The new channel will feature noteworthy footage from 52 years of Grammy performances and related programming available for free, on-demand viewing across the Vevo Network in the U.S. The new channel marks the first time The Recording Academy has made this archival footage publicly available.

Vevo Attracts 35 Million Visitors In December

Online music video service, Vevo, was the most visited U.S. website in the entertainment-music category in December with more than 35 million unique visitors, according to comScore.

Partners in Vevo include Universal Music Group, Sony Entertainment and investor Abu Dhabi Media Company. The site is powered by YouTube.

Vevo says its top ranking is an achievement because it did not launch until December 8 and it was not live for the full month of December, which comScore bases its results.

Different opinions exist regarding whether or not Vevo will ever be a big success; on the one hand, it doesn’t offer anything that other video sites don’t.  On the other, well, music labels’ lawyers may work to ensure it’s something special.  But either way, Vevo owes YouTube its life at this early stage.

Vevo Reaches Content Agreement With EMI

Online music video service Vevo, has reached a content agreement with EMI Music on the eve before its Tuesday launch.

EMI joins Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment in what is being called the "Hulu for music videos." So far Vevo has not reached a licensing agreement with Warner Music Group.

Vevo Gets Official Launch Date

Vevo, the highly anticipated music video site from YouTube, Universal, and Sony, now has an official release date. Vevo was previously announced to be launching in December, but now the date of December 8th has been set.

AT&T Strikes Ad Deal With Vevo

Online music video site Vevo, launching in December, said today it has signed AT&T as its first advertiser.

Partners in Vevo include Universal Music Group, Sony Entertainment and investor Abu Dhabi Media Company. The new music video site will be powered by YouTube.

The announcement did not include details about ad revenue sharing, but AT&T said it would support Vevo’s services across multiple connected platforms.
