After the backlash Ben Affleck received once it was announced the STUDIO chose him to play Batman in the upcoming Superman vs Batman, I’m surprised anyone is willing to say they want a part in the film. But then again, megastar Justin Timberlake isn’t just anyone.
Fresh off his MTV Video Music Award performance, Timberlake told the New York radio program, Fresh 102.7’s Jim & Kim Morning Show, Tuesday that he wanted to play the Riddler opposite Affleck’s Batman. It seems playing a villain is enticing to the recent winner of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Timberlake told the hosts, “Now, villain! I’ll tell you the villain I want to play more than anything because I grew up loving Batman, funny enough, is the Riddler.” He added, “The Riddler was like a sociopath. He was proper crazy. So if I’m gonna play crazy, I wanna play proper crazy…I’m ready. The Riddler. Give me a call!”
Definitely don’t tell him he’d make a good Robin though. “I ain’t playin’ Robin. I have no aspiration to ever be a superhero in a movie,” said Timberlake.
The six-time Grammy winner seems to be one of the few voicing a positive opinion about Affleck playing Batman. Timberlake said, “Ben Affleck as Batman. I like it. I think he’s a brilliant filmmaker. I think he’s an extreme talent so he could surprise a lot of people.”
Timberlake already has some experience working with Affleck. The two will appear in the upcoming film Runner Runner, set for release October 4.
At this stage in development, the Riddler has not even been mentioned as part of the upcoming film.
One thing’s for sure, if they decided to put the Riddler in the film, and hire Timberlake to play him, it would be hard to choose the hottest guy on screen. Between him, Affleck, and current Superman Henry Cavill, how’s a person to choose? It will be nice to have to make such a difficult decision though.
