Grab a clean pair of underwear, fanboys, because the third trailer for Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated summer blockbuster “The Dark Knight Rises” has made its way online. I have nimbly avoided most of the behind-the-scenes footage for the flick simply because I don’t want anything ruined by the time I purchase a ticket and take my seat inside that darkened theater. In fact, besides the teaser, this is the first trailer for the flick I’ve watched. Considering the vast number of spoilers that seem to be incorporated into previews these days, I’m very selective which trailers I watch. This time, however, I’ve made an exception to the rule.

The latest trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises” is fairly impressive. The atmosphere is nice and moody, which, in my opinion, is spot-on. The coolest thing about Nolan’s interpretation of the Batman franchise is that his endeavors don’t feel like superhero movies. There’s something a bit more human, a tad more epic and real, going on beneath the costumes, the gadgets, and the numerous action set pieces. These elements help separate the franchise from other comic book movies, and the final entry in the series looks emotional, intense, and epic.

If you’re late to the party, here’s what the film is about:

Eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face’s crimes, a new terrorist leader, Bane overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that brands him an enemy.

When you have a few minutes to spare this morning, dim the lights, hold your calls, and have a look at what’s in store for the Caped Crusader this summer. “The Dark Knight Rises”, which stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Marion Cotillard, opens on July 20th.
