Julianne Hough revealed this week on her blog that she’s gone bright pink, and it’s not because she’s blushing.

The Dancing With The Stars queen shared a photo of her newly dyed locks, saying she decided to change things up a bit in honor of an anti-bullying project called the Kind Campaign, and offered some tips on how different eye and skin colors can affect a bright dye job.

“I love to experiment with my looks by way of beauty products, styling tools and sometimes even taking things a step further –- remember last year when I chopped off all my hair? It was a big, bold move but it was so worth it! It felt liberating not to hide behind all that hair. So why did I decide on the color pink this time? Because pink is the color of kindness!” she wrote. “Now if you’re thinking to yourself, “No, I really am a unicorn!” and you want to go for it roots to ends — I respect that. My best advice is to please see a professional. Keep in mind that all-over bleach will result in roots about every 4-6 weeks, so be ready for that touch up. Don’t embarrass your stylist by not keeping up your unicorn magic. This look can go from hot to hot mess really easily.”

Hough made headlines this week when she was quoted in an Allure article trying to explain why she wore blackface for Halloween in 2013, when she dressed as the Orange Is The New Black character “Crazy Eyes”.

“I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba [who plays Crazy Eyes], and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize,” Hough said on social media after the incident.

The professional dancer said she has a hard time talking about the incident even now.

“Ignorance is sometimes not bliss. I really had no idea what I was doing, and it was all out of fun and respect for the character. I don’t even know how to talk about it because it’s such a sensitive topic. It makes me so sad to think that I was that dumb. I learned a big lesson,” Julianne Hough said.
