Facebook Adds 50 Million Users In Under Five Months
Found in 35 languages, 170 countries and territoriesWell, that didn't take long. On August 26th, Mark Zuckerberg made a post on the Facebook Blog noting that his social network had attracted 100 million users. Now the CEO's back, saying that Facebook has hit the 150 million-user mark.

What's more, it looks like Zuckerberg isn't trying to cheat; he's not counting people who haven't signed in since 2006. Instead, he writes, "150 million people around the world are now actively using Facebook and almost half of them are using Facebook every day" (emphasis ours).
Facebook has achieved an impressive spread throughout the world, too, as Zuckerberg continues, "This includes people in every continent - even Antarctica. . . . Today, people of all ages - grandparents, parents and children - use Facebook in more than 35 different languages and 170 countries and territories."
The only hitch here may be that Christmas temporarily inflated Facebook's stats. Analysts at Hitwise have pointed out that it took Facebook over six months to re-reach its December 2007 high, and a Christmas Eve traffic spike occurred again in 2008.
Still, it looks like Zuckerberg has every reason to take the words "Happy New Year" to heart.
