Nintendo DSi Gets Connected with Facebook
The Nintendo DSi, which has sold over 1.7 million units in the US alone, includes photo and voice manipulation features. Today, users will have the ability to upload their stuff directly to Facebook.
Nintendo announced that after 5pm Pacific Time today, the Nintendo DSi will offer Facebook Connect photo integration. Users of the DSi system and the DSi Camera application will be able to take pictures with either of the system's two cameras and upload their photos directly to their Facebook profile.
U.S. Video Game Sales Up 13%
U.S. video game sales of hardware and software increased 13 percent in January from the previous year according to the NPD Group.
In January, consumers purchased $445.4 million in video game hardware, a 17 percent year -over-year increase, proof that the video game industry is doing well despite the recession.
Surf the Earth with Google and Your Wii
Showing an example of how developers can do some really cool stuff with the Google Earth API, Google Earth iPhone Engineer David Phillip Oster has created a program that allows people to "surf" any region on the Earth's surface using the balance board for the Nintendo Wii. Oster used the Google Earth Browser plug-in and a javascript API, and the board transmits the person's movements to the application using Bluetooth. See it in action:

U.S. video game sales increased 28 percent in July from a year ago, with continued solid demand for Nintendo's Wii console, research firm NPD said.Sales of video game hardware, software and accessories reached $1.19 billion in July, with software sales increasing 41 percent and hardware sales growing 17 percent.

Market research firm NPD is reporting that U.S. sales of video game hardware and software increased 73 percent in October.
Total sales reached $1.1 billion, compared with $643 million a year earlier. The Nintendo Wii console moved back into the top spot as the best selling console. Nintendo sold 519,000 Wiis, Microsoft sold 366,000 Xbox 360 consoles and Sony sold 121,000 of its PlayStation 3 consoles.
